about

Chloé Raunet’s second album as C.A.R. was released earlier this year to huge acclaim from the likes of DJ Mag, Resident Advisor and Trax Magazine. With Raunet taking on the mantle of producer, singer and songwriter, 'PINNED' refined her palette of glimmering electronics and post-punk angles over 11 tracks of hazy, claustrophobic synth pop. Following in its wake, the 'PINNED Up' remix EP was home to dancefloor reinterpretations from the likes of Michael Mayer, Marcus Worgull and Bawrut.

The second instalment 'PINNED Down' is an entirely different kettle of fish, taking Raunet’s compositions in a number of weird and wonderful directions. Peaking Lights provide a masterclass in dubbed-out disco with their blissful transformation of ‘Daughters’, while Kasra V’s meditative approach turns C.A.R.’s vocals into a faint spectral presence. Moon Temple (aka Gabriel Andruzzi of The Rapture/Mother of Mars) turns the same track into a feverish machine jam, while Khidja doubles down on the darkness of the original.

Fantastic Twins adopts a similarly stripped-down, haunted house approach on her remix of ‘This City’, while Anna Lann’s poised techno flip of ‘Cholera’ sounds like the last gasps of a factory primed for demolition. Morgane Lhote aka Hologram Teen (ex-Stereolab) performs a sunny cut ‘n’ paste job on ‘Heat’, while Sutja Gutierrez’s doom-laden take on ‘Strange Ways’ provides an incongruously epic ending.
